During your studies you will need to ensure you are also gaining opportunities to develop your skills. Whilst your program will help you develop a depth of knowledge and skills in your field, there are also a number of more general skills (often referred to as soft skills, generic skills, transferable skills or work ready skills) that will be essential to your future success.
Employers will expect you to be able to provide examples of times you have demonstrated particular skills relevant to the job you are applying for. If you plan to be a business owner, entrepreneur or freelancer you will need to develop a broad skillset to be successful in your endeavour.
This activity allows for you to explore a number of development opportunities you may engage with to develop particular skills. The eight skills listed are those generally looked for in potential employees. At the end of the exercise you can create a plan for your development.
